Slow-Cooked Lebanese (Middle Eastern) Green Beans and Beef
Green beans with tomatoes, cinnamon, and tender beef that's a Middle Eastern/Arabian delicacy traditionally served over rice pilaf or basmati rice. Excellent source of Vitamin C, Iron, Vitamin A, and Calcium. Recipe & photo credits to Liz Della Croce.
Ingredients
- beef stew meat (cut in cubes) - 1 lb
- green beans (trimmed and cut in 2 in. pieces) - 1 lb
- medium onion (diced) - 1
- crushed tomatoes - 32 oz
- cinnamon - 1 tablespoon
- salt - 1/2 tablespoon
- parsley (chopped) - 1/4 cup
- rice and plain yogurt to serve (optional) - (optional)
Instructions
- Place beef, green beans, onion and tomatoes in a slow cooker.
- Stir in cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Cook on High Heat for 4 hours or Low Heat for 8 hours.
- Serve over rice pilaf and a dollop of plain yogurt. Garnish with fresh parsley.
